• Yosemite Institute (YNI.org) - In two days, assessed organization’s accounting environment, practices and systems; made recommendations for financial planning; enhanced payroll time-reporting process. Provide on-going support, advice and counsel to the Executive Director, including the development of a “dashboard” for financial reporting to the Board, and new payroll spreadsheet.
• Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center (RenCenter.org) – Served as Interim Controller. Provided big picture counsel as well as detailed daily accounting operations. Revamped the chart of accounts and implemented entirely new accounting procedures, including time and expense reporting, and accounting for temporarily restricted contributions. Developed the 2008 budget within the new accounting framework and provided training to staff. Established monthly journal close, A/P and A/R cycles, and tenant billing. Helped to hire and train new accounting team. Provided audit prep and support.
• Housing Rights, Inc. (HousingRights.org) – Improved billing process; performed all accounting duties; standardized and documented accounting procedures; instituted timely reporting; enhanced cash-flow; provided audit prep and support; made presentation to the Board of Directors; helped hire and train accounting staff.
• Inveneo, Inc. (Inveneo.org) – Served as part-time Controller, closing the books each month. Completed year end close for 2007. Provided training and guideance to the bookkeeper. Initially contracted to review 2006 fiscal year to prepare financials for Form 990 preparation; reconciled accounts; prepared adjusting entries; prepared 17-page report for recommendations on next steps in establishing accounting procedures and other business practices to meet needs of the organization as it grows. Helped implement the recommendations.
• Seismic Warning Systems, Inc. – Reviewed books and revised the accounting to conform to GAAP; performed accurate calculations of deferred compensation and debt in accordance with legal documents; created financial statements; consolidated books, including foreign subsidiary.
