Amy Buckley

Amy has worked for nonprofits her entire professional career starting in Information Systems Management and Database Administration and working in the United Way system for 20 years. She loves that Shining Star works to help others and has passed that love on to her family, as her daughter has done some consulting with Shining Star. Amy grew up in Pennsylvania and then moved to Maryland where she received her degree in Business Management from University of Baltimore. She now lives in Florida with her husband where she enjoys volunteering at the local animal shelter and going to the beach.

Ruth has been with Shining Star Consulting since 2018 and is a valued member of the team!

Kelley Gibbs, CPA, MBA

Kelley grew up in the Philippines and came to the US to get his BA in Geology at Colorado College, his BS in Accounting at Menlo College and his SBA, MBA at Thunderbird Graduate School. He discovered his love of accounting and supporting nonprofits through his experience of preparing applications for organizations and being a part of their creation and mission. He has enjoyed making a difference ever since. Kelley enjoys writing stories, maintaining friendships and volunteering for nonprofits,

Jenna Jacques

Jenna was born and raised in the Bay Area, but moved to Las Vegas in 2016 and has resided there ever since with her partner Matt. She received her undergraduate degree in Comparative Literature with a minor in Mathematics at Mills College. Jenna began her nonprofit career with an organization in San Francisco as a payroll clerk during the recession. Seeing the work and its impact on their clients - people with mental health disabilities getting back into the workforce - inspired her to continue in the nonprofit realm. Service work is a calling and she is still friends with people she worked with at that original organization.

Doug Wentworth

Doug likes to visit national parks with his family and working with others for a purpose he can believe in. He grew up in Massachusetts, but has been in San Francisco, CA for more than twenty years. He has a BA in Political Science from Tufts University.

Diana Abellera - Director

Diana was born and raised in Atlanta and after spending 20 years in the Bay Area, she recently moved back with her husband, daughter and dog. She enjoys hiking, camping and playing games. Throughout her career Diana has worked with nonprofits, mostly in the food justice and food systems. She has directed programs and fundraised; worked in finance and operations. She loves helping groups that are doing systems-changing work on the frontlines by making things easier on the back end.

 

Ryana Barbosa, MBA

Ryana has an MBA in Nonprofit & Social Enterprise Leadership from San Francisco Stat University as well as a BS in Management, Global Business & International Studies from Manhattan College. While she currently lives in Chicago with her husband and 10 month old, she has lived in quite a few places! Ryana grw up in Fall River, Massachusetts. After living in Boston for a short stint, she moved to Oakland, CA for six years and then moved to Lisbon, Portugal in 2019. She enjoys cooking and reading, but mostly playing with her 10 month old daughter!

Jōssie Orense

Jōssie lives with her husband and they are celebrating the recent graduation of their daughter from San Francisco State University and their son who is a chef at a Michelin star restaurant. Jōssie is a native of San Francisco and graduated with her BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA. She began working in the international development sector but truly appreciates that what she does directly affects people in need.

Megan Sabato

Throughout her career, Megan has worked with small businesses and non profits to enhance their communications and grant management strategies. She finds it very rewarding to help organizations to streamline and improve internal processes so they are better equipped to influence change. Megan grew up on the East Coast; after living in Northern CA for 15 years, she now resides in Michigan. She enjoys spending time with family, reading, gardening, hiking.

Willi Sanchez

Willi Sanchez has 20 years experience in the field of education. She earned her BA from Sonoma State, and a Master’s from UC Berkeley and a Master’s from Arizona State. There she picked up skills in technology, marketing and project management. Her passion for service work is a family trait and one she carries with pride and hopes to pass down to her son. She lives in Arizona with her son, dog and two cats.

Carly Mendoza

Carly has over a decade of experience in education, and six years of experience with adult education and workplace training. She earned her BA in Political Science and Japanese from the University of Rochester and her MS in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University. Carly specializes in using adult learning principles to design, implement, and evaluate high-quality adult learning programs to support organizational success. When she's not working, Carly can be found hiking, backpacking, or rock climbing in the beautiful Arizona desert with her husband and dogs.

Mandy Childers

Mandy was born and raised in Wyoming. She went to the University of Wyoming on a presidential scholarship where she received a BS in Economics and an MBA. She started working in martgage lending, but found it did not make her happy. She moved into working in finance with private companies and K-12 public schools, as well as private and public nonprofits. Her true passion is social justice and education. Mandy has two daughters and two dogs. They love to explore new places in their Jeep, listening to music and attending music events.
